BNB Chain recently shifted its attention to restaking, having just wrapped up its fifth Total Value Locked (TVL) support program. The blockchain, popular for its BNB staking options – liquid staking allowed – is now focusing on restaking initiatives. This move is part of the platform’s effort to monitor the performance and impact of its delegation support among all of its supported protocols.
During the fifth TVL program cycle, BNB Chain delegation support was focused on five promising protocols. These five protocols are Kernel, Aster, YieldNestFi, Transchess and Lista. To fund all of this, each protocol was working with a 20,000 BNB funding limit. For context, at the time, total delegation support was capped at 50,000 BNB.
Protocols on BNB Chain are ranked by the total value locked in new BNBs staking and by their percentage growth. KernelDAO, the latest to commit $40 million, showed serious community support, receiving 3,956 BNB in delegate backing. Aster DEX led with 3,512 BNB in delegation backing.
In order to be eligible for delegation support, protocols need to reach certain milestones. For example, they must reach a total value locked (TVL) of $10 million and perform two security audits. BNB Chain pays out rewards within 10 days in BNB / WBNB. These incentives can be sustained for one to three months, based on the protocol’s activity.
KernelDAO’s involvement in the fifth TVL program is a perfect example of community-powered growth, which is at the core of the BNB Chain ecosystem. Their tremendous success shows that active community engagement and strong security practices are critical to protocols looking to gain support through delegation.
