Ethereum’s robust framework that allows for staking, stablecoins, and NFTs makes it the core hub in which all digital assets can thrive. Now companies are looking to Ethereum, with several planning out moves much like those made towards Bitcoin earlier. This paradigm shift together reflects increasing confidence in Ethereum’s long-term value and its power to redefine our financial systems.
Lorien Gabel, CEO of Figment, sees Ethereum as a transformative driver of the digital economy. Figment, a key provider of staking infrastructure, is leading the charge on that front.
"The center of global banking for digital assets." - Lorien Gabel
Staking, more accurately called proof of stake, is an important element of Ethereum. It allows users to stake their ETH, help secure the network, and get rewarded for doing so. This mechanism is drawing in institutions seeking novel revenue streams from the crypto space.
"Protocol staking enables institutions to earn rewards." - Lorien Gabel
This early cacophony of voice actors is providing powerful evidence that institutional interest in Ethereum is maturing. SharpLink Gaming’s stock price jumped by more than 400% after unveiling plans for a strategic pivot to an Ethereum-based treasury. Likewise, BitMine Immersion Technologies, which once positioned itself as a Bitcoin mining company, changed its name to focus on buying Ethereum. Former Fundstrat global market strategist Tom Lee was recently appointed chairman of BitMine. He made the case for Ethereum as the technology that can connect Wall Street to the crypto universe. BitMine Immersion Technologies Since announcing its pivot to Ethereum, BitMine Immersion Technologies’ stock has increased by 25%.
These companies are operating on a playbook that’s very much like that of MicroStrategy, which made headlines for its substantial early investments in Bitcoin. Meanwhile, firms such as Coinbase, Exodus Movement and Mogo are increasing their Ethereum reserves on their balance sheets. They are forward looking and optimistic about its future growth and utility.
The promise of Ethereum is much more than just capital appreciation. With a baseline yield over 3%, staking on Ethereum is a great way to bring in income, too. Smart, forward-looking companies understand this and are actively weaving Ethereum into their organizational strategy for yield generation, capital management, and long-term business planning.
Ethereum's unique capabilities are also drawing interest.
"Ethereum, to me, is really gonna be where Wall Street meets crypto." - Tom Lee
